Submit through the employer or sponsor’s stated process and save the confirmation. Record the contact, role, date and expected response time in your own application log. Do not send sensitive documents to an unverified recruiter.
If a posting says apprentice, ask whether it includes registration with a named sponsor. If it says helper, ask about training and a path into apprenticeship. The title alone does not settle the arrangement.
Follow up on the timeline the organization gives you. A short message works: “I applied on [date] for [role]. Is my application complete, and what is the next step?” Keep the tone professional and the request easy to answer.
If the intake is closed or you are waitlisted, ask when it reopens, what changes your position and whether related paid work can be considered for future credit. Then contact your second route. Do not spend an entire season assuming that silence means you should keep waiting.
For income urgency, compare current entry-level work with the next registered intake. Confirm the employer, supervision, pay and schedule before making a move.
Your next action
Submit one complete application and identify a second route with a real follow-up date.
A question worth asking
“Is my application complete, when should I follow up, and what can I do while I wait?”
