Under F.S. §489.105, a certified contractor holds a certificate of competency issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and may contract in any jurisdiction in the state without meeting that jurisdiction’s own competency requirements. Residential contractors are limited under F.S. §489.105(3)(c) to construction, remodeling, repair, or improvement of one-, two-, or three-family residences not exceeding two habitable stories above one uninhabitable story.
